Responsibility for the environment and society
Environmentally friendly and resource-conserving production processes are a matter of course at Hechinger. We see environmental management as an ongoing process that we continuously improve. State-of-the-art facilities, innovative infrastructure, outstanding building technology and a responsible approach to recycling, personnel management and social commitment are integral components of sustainable action.
This also applies to our products and production. Many of our products are already making a significant contribution to progress in the areas of sustainability and the energy transition.
Research and Development
We invest in promising projects in order to drive forward technological leadership in our core business and create potential for new growth areas. Our focus is on the development and industrialization of products for energy storage or drive technologies that support the transition to a cleaner world.
Innovative in terms of building technology too
By 2030 at the latest, all our sites should be producing CO2-neutrally. We are leaving no stone unturned to achieve this. This pays off in many ways:
- Regenerative power generation with our own photovoltaic systems
- Use of 100% green electricity in all German plants
- New production halls: built to KfW 55 standards and as "energy-plus buildings"
- Innovative compressed air/heat concepts with absorption chillers
Environmental management with EMAS & Co.
We have been investing in our environmental management system for many years and not only comply with mandatory regulations: As a participant in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), we report on our progress in terms of sustainability and make current figures transparent. We are also EMAS-certified and are regularly audited by independent experts. Our commitment is based on these aspects, among others:
- Sustainable choice of materials
- Energy-efficient production processes
- Responsible selection of supply chains
- Development & research
- Certification according to ISO standards
Raw material (re)utilization
We are committed to the continuous improvement of our quality and environmental management system and our environmental performance - in particular to save resources and energy. For this reason, responsible handling of raw materials, packaging and waste is a matter of course for us.
All waste is recycled. In the case of raw materials, such as granulates in plastics production or copper scrap, we pay attention to possible recycling.

At Hechinger, thinking and acting across generations also applies to the workforce: we are proud that second and third generation employees are already working for us. On average, people stay with our company for well over 10 years.
Numerous training and further education measures as well as flat hierarchies offer good opportunities for advancement - a career path from training to a management position is possible at Hechinger. The appreciation and respect that we show throughout the company pays off with a great sense of belonging - and with the quality that we offer our customers every day.
Social commitment
As a responsible company, we also take the social aspect of sustainability into account: as a medium-sized family business from southern Germany, the region and its inhabitants are very important to us. This includes our employees as well as various associations, organizations and foundations that we support throughout the year with donations and sponsorships.

In regular audits, we prove that our processes comply with the currently applicable standards and guidelines. Our quality management is put to the test, as is our commitment to the environment.
